Today I officially received my EF SET English Certificate, achieving a C2 Proficient level 🌍 While I’m proud of the result, what I’m even more proud of is how I got here. I’ve been learning English for the past 14 years, through immersing myself in the language every day, and deliberately putting myself in situations where English wasn't optional, but the only way to communicate. There were plenty of mistakes along the way. Misunderstood words, awkward conversations, moments of self-doubt before speaking. But every single one of those moments became part of the learning process. Three months ago I took the test for the first time and scored a solid C1. It was already a strong result, and something I could have easily been satisfied with. But I knew I had it in me to reach C2. So I strapped in and retook the test two more times until reality matched potential 🙌✨️ But this post really isn’t about English. It’s about choosing not to settle. We often celebrate results, but we rarely talk about what happens in between. The hours no one sees, the repetition, the frustration, the moments where progress feels invisible, and the decision to keep showing up anyway. Whether it’s learning a language, mastering a profession, training for a race, building a business, or developing any new skill, there are no shortcuts. Talent might help you start and take you so far, but discipline is what carries you to places talent alone never will. If there’s something you’ve been wanting to learn or become better at, don’t ask yourself how quickly you can get there. Ask yourself whether you’re willing to keep showing up long after the excitement fades. This certificate isn’t the finish line. It’s simply a reminder that the best way to learn is to stay curious and create opportunities that force you to grow. You’d be surprised how far a simple “hello” can take you. 🌎 And a special shoutout to my former English teacher, David Sugarman who was one of the first people to really push me to believe I could take my English further.
